The Sardy House
Overview
The Sardy House offers a rare opportunity to experience one of Aspen’s most iconic and beloved historic estates. Originally built in 1890, this renowned residence is one of the few remaining historic homes in Aspen. The property has recently undergone a comprehensive renovation that carefully preserves its Queen Anne–style architecture while meticulously restoring many of its original details.
Historic doors, intricate wood carvings surrounding the fireplace, and beautifully crafted wood banisters have all been thoughtfully restored, blending the home’s rich heritage with modern luxury and comfort.
Elegant Living with Historic Charm
While the Sardy House is steeped in history, the interiors feel fresh, contemporary, and refined. Crisp Italian linens and luxurious finishes create the level of comfort expected from one of Aspen’s finest private residences.
Large windows throughout the home invite an abundance of natural light, creating warm and welcoming living spaces that feel both elegant and relaxed.
The five-bedroom Main House features a fully equipped kitchen, office/library, sitting room, dining room, media room, exercise room, and a cozy den highlighted by original stained-glass windows. A commercial kitchen also makes the residence ideal for entertaining on a grand scale.
Bedrooms include a spacious primary suite with separate his-and-her bathrooms, as well as a guest primary suite overlooking the pool.
Exceptional Outdoor Living
The outdoor living spaces enjoy beautiful views of Aspen Mountain and are designed for both relaxation and entertaining.
Amenities include:
- Swimming pool
- Hot tub
- Fire pit
- Poolside lounge chairs
- Outdoor dining for fourteen guests
A poolside spa provides the perfect setting for a relaxing massage, while the private driveway offers covered parking for three vehicles.
Guests may also enjoy a fleet of town bikes, perfect for exploring Aspen or taking a scenic ride to the Woody Creek Tavern for lunch.
Carriage House Accommodations
An interior walkway connects the Main House to the Carriage House, which features an additional ten en-suite bedrooms, including a two-story suite complete with its own sitting area and kitchen.
Although the estate spans nearly 16,000 square feet, the spaces throughout remain intimate, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. The home is fully air-conditioned for year-round comfort.

A Beloved Aspen Tradition
The Sardy House is also home to Aspen’s cherished annual Sardy House Tree Lighting Ceremony, a magical tradition now celebrating more than 38 years. Held on the first Sunday in December, the event brings the community together each year.
Guests and locals gather along the street to enjoy hot chocolate and holiday cookies while listening to carolers on the balcony and local musicians performing nearby. Children line up on the lawn to share their holiday wish lists with Santa, making it a beloved celebration for families and visitors alike.
